Vibe Fm Joins UNDP In Tsunami Aid Effort

Vibe FM, an Accra based radio station with its Mission to entertain, edutain and infotain and strive for nothing less than the best in radio programming, today joined in the UN?s campaign for donations to the victims of the Tsunami disaster, in Asia and Africa.
On its first day, the On-Air campaign which lasted from 8:00 am until 10am, raised about ? 1 million cedis from individuals and small scale enterprises. Hadman Agency pledged ?100,000.00, the ?Put a Smile Foundation? an NGO in Accra, donated other item, Danku Refrigeration and Air conditioning donated ?50,000.00 Vichans School gave ?100,000.00 and Rantra company donated ?50,000.00
Speaking on Vibe FM during the launching of the station?s campaign, Margaret Novicki, Director, United Nations Information Center, West Africa, thanked Vibe FM for its support. She called on other radio stations in the country to emulate Vibe?s initiative. Margaret Novicki also thanked other organizations such as TV3, Koala Shopping Center, CAL Bank, Coca Cola, and Sheikh I.C. Quaye, the Greater Accra Regional Minister for their contributions to the UN?s disaster relief effort.
Kofi Dokyi Apeatu-Ampaw, host of Vibe FM?s morning show and Benjamin Kwame Tawiah a.ka ROW, the producer of the Show (Sizzling Breakfast Show), who is also the Youth Crime Watch of America?s Special Advisor, Africa, pledged their program?s free airtime to all corporate bodies which will make donations to the disaster relief fund through Vibe FM. They also called on other media houses to join in supporting the UN?s disaster relief effort. All donations will go to the United Nations Development Programme ? UNDP, in Accra.
Vibe fm is the only station in Ghana with a cult following who’s on air personalities command a strong influence on its listenership hence the stations unbeatable strength in Campaigns, Special Events and Advocacy. ie Radiothon(a promotional radio program to raise 10 million U.S. dollars, as funds, for Ghana?s first Teaching Hospital ? Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital), Accra’s Vibrant Street Carnival, Salafest, Made in Ghana Campaign, Youth Agricultural Project, Ghana Think Tank etc..
