Vetting of ministerial nominees begins

Parliament’s Vetting and Appointments Committee has begun vetting ministerial nominees recently announced in President John Dramani Mahama’s reshuffle.

Four nominees are expected to be vetted on Wednesday, July 9.

The first to take his seat at the Conference Room of Parliament House was Nii Osah Mills, a former President of the Ghana Bar Association. He is a nominee for ministerial position at the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry.

Our correspondent reported that Nii Osah Mills stressed on pushing for a law that will lead to the seizure of equipment used in illegal mining.

Among ministers-designate who appeared before the Committee are Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, Aquinas Quansah, who has been nominated for position of Central Region Minister and Deputy Employment and Labour Relations Minister Antwi Boasiako Sekyere, who has been named to head the Eastern Region.

The Committee is chaired by Ebow Barton-Oduro, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
