Veep?s Office Deny Assault Story

An official at the office of the vice president, Mr. O.B. Amoah has denied a newspaper report to the effect that security personnel of the Veep?s convoy allegedly assaulted an air force soldier on their return from Cape Coast a couple of months ago, for refusing to give way to the convoy.

The incident, according to the ?searchlight? newspaper occurred on Saturday March 13th this year at Budumburam. The paper quoted an eyewitness as saying that the soldier who was dressed in full uniform including a beret, was brutalised by the Veep?s security numbering over ten and was at one point hit on the mouth with a gun leading to his losing one tooth.

Reacting to this, Mr. O.B Amoah expressed surprise, saying nothing of that sort happened as far as he was concerned. He said however that in response to the publication, the Aide de Camp of the vice president has been ordered to submit a detailed report on that trip to enable the office of the president take the necessary action if it turns out to be true.
