Veep’s man speaks out

PRESIDENTIAL STAFFER Yaw Buabeng Asamoah has refuted the import of a story attributed to him in the GYE NYAME CONCORD.
In a telephone conversation with this reporter last week Tuesday, he repeatedly pointed out that he was quoted out of context
“What I said was that in the days when the CPP was in power only the Northern Peoples Party (NPP) espoused the message of the Danquah-Busia Group in Parliament”.
“I also said when the oppression and suppression was red-hot, many people of the Danquah-Busia tradition were non-commital in politics whilst others managed to leave the country with their wives and children to escape the oppression and suppression”.
I NEVER SAID “the elite and bourgeoisie fathers of the present day presidential aspirants distanced themselves from politics and sent their children abroad”.
Mr. Asamoah said it will be naïve on his part to say that, explaining that such insulting manner in doing politics and looking down on people with a smirch are totally foreign to his culture and quite at variance with his nature.
He therefore called for the setting of the records straight which this reporter promised to do and also sincerely apologized for any harm the story might have caused the person and office of the presidential staffer.
