Veep calls for peace in Nkoranza

Nkoranza (B/A), Nov. 19, GNA- Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama has urged the people of Nkoranza to support and encourage the Omanhene, Okatakyie Agyemang Kudom IV, towards the development of the traditional area.

The Vice President was speaking at a meeting with the Omanhene, sub-chiefs and a cross section of the people at the Omanhene’s palace at Nkoranza as part of his tour of the area. Alhaji Mahama said the country had enjoyed peace and stability under the NPP administration and it was incumbent on all Ghanaians to help sustain the peace and promote understanding to enhance development in all communities.

“You are expected to throw your weight behind the Omanhene Okatakyie Agyemang Kudom, who is the President of the Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs so that he can serve you in peace to move the traditional area forward”, he said. The Vice President commended the people of Nkoranza for their hard work, especially the farmers and that the country owed them tons of gratitude for producing the bulk of the nation’s food needs. On his political ambitions, Alhaji Mahama said he had acquired the necessary experience and knowledge to serve as President, stressing that, serving as Vice President for the past seven years had adequately exposed him to international issues.

He called on delegates to the party’s congress on December 22 to give him the nod to lead the party to a resounding victory in the 2008 general election to continue with the good policies of the government. Alhaji Mahama called on Ghanaians to appreciate the freedom and peaceful environment enjoyed under the NPP administration and rally solidly behind the party. Okatakyie Agyemang thanked the Vice President for the visit and wished him God’s blessings and success in his endeavours. 19 Nov. 07
