Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, has called for significant investment in the country’s power sector, infrastructure, railways and ports.
He said private investment in such areas would go a long way to enhance the socio-economic development of the country.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur made the call when Mr Mohammed Hussain Al-Failakawi, Kuwait Ambassador to Benin with oversight responsibility for Ghana paid a courtesy call on him at his office at the Flagstaff House.
The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development over the years has supported Ghana’s development mainly in the power, health and agricultural sectors.
In 2013, the government of Ghana and the Kuwait Fund signed a $15.3 million loan agreement for the construction of an Emergency Trauma and Acute Care Centre at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur also said more investments are also needed to help expand the country’s seaports to enable the neighbouring landlocked countries transport their goods through the ports.
He called for the deepening of relations between the two countries based on cooperation and non-interference.
He expressed gratitude to the Kuwaiti Fund for supporting infrastructure development especially in the construction of the Kpong Dam.
Mr Mohammed Hussain Al-Failakawi commended Ghana for adding her voice to other countries for condemning the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq in 1990.
He called for the strengthening of relations between the two countries for the mutual benefit of their people.
