Vice President Amissah-Arthur has promised, the government will expand infrastructure at the University for Development Studies (UDS) when retained in the December polls.
The vice president was interacting with students of UDS during his tour of the Upper West. He said the NDC government has the best track record for supporting the educational sector compared to other political parties.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur also predicted a resounding victory for the NDC in the December polls.
He said the government will tackle the problems bedevilling the university because “this university is a child of the NDC and therefore we have a responsibility to meet the challenges of our children and we will do that when we win.”
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate for the December elections, Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia, has lashed at the NDC government for doing little to address the economic problems confronting the country.
He told students of UDS that the high unemployment situation in the country speaks volumes of the failures of the NDC government.
“As a policy maker, if you say you have practical policy experience then that policy should reflect in the outcome of your policies. But if the outcome of your policies are outcomes that resulted in HIPC then we don’t have anything to learn from you,” he averred.
He said the NDC’s policies have collapsed businesses and increased interest rates that are collapsing businesses in the country.
Dr. Bawumia said an NPP government has the interest of Ghanaians at heart and will serve them better.
