Pwalugu (U/E) Nov. 15 GNA – The Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama has asked personnel of the Ghana Police Service, to be committed to their professional role of ensuring the peace and stability needed to promote national development.
He stressed: “Government’s effort to create wealth through a stable environment for the progress of the people could be undermined if the Police fails in its responsibilities.”
Alhaji Mahama was addressing the maiden passing out ceremony of Police recruits at the Pwalugu Police Depot in Bolgatanga, at the weekend, as part of his campaign tour of the Upper East Region. He said government had set up a committee to review the salaries and the condition of service of the Police.
Reacting to a request by the Commandant of the Depot, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mercy Brown, the Vice President said plans were under way to extend portable water to the school.
ASP Mercy Brown thanked the Vice President for assisting to establish the Depot but however appealed to the government for the graveling of the school’s parade grounds.
One hundred and seventy (170) pioneer recruits, comprising 100 males and 70 females passed out at the ceremony, which was witnessed by the Inspector General of Police, Nana Opoku Nsiah.
