VC of University of Education retires

Winneba, (C/R) Oct. 4, GNA- Professor Jophus Anamuah-Mensah has retired as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, (UEW), and handed over to Prof. Akwasi Asabere Ameyaw, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, as the new Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Anamuah-Mensah at a handing over ceremony at the University Campus at Winneba, said ” My days spent as Principal and Vice Chancellor of UEW came to an end on Monday, October 1, 2007.”

He urged the new Vice Chancellor and workers of the University to work as a team towards the development of the educational institution. Prof. Anamuah-Mensah thanked the teaching and non-teaching staff of the University for their co-operation and support, which made the educational institution a centre of excellence.

Mr. C.Y. Akwaah-Mensah, Registrar of the University, commended Prof. Anamu-Mensah for his hard work and said the University would offer him consultancy work to promote academic work.

The Registrar said the Rural Scholarship Support instituted by the out-going Vice Chancellor for students in the catchment area of UEW would be sustained.

Prof. Ameyaw promised to continue with the good works of his predecessor towards the development of the University.
