VBCI Celebrates Four Decades of Faith, Growth, and Community Empowerment

Victory Bible Church International (VBCI), one of Ghana’s leading Charismatic and Pentecostal ministries, is celebrating 40 years of existence, growth, and global impact under the theme of God’s manifold goodness and grace.

Founded on 2nd June 1985 with a modest service in Kokomlemle, Accra, VBCI has since blossomed into a global movement with over 250 branches spread across four continents: Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe. At the heart of this expansion is the church’s foundational mandate—to “Raise the Foundations of Many Generations”—anchored on Isaiah 58:12.

The church is led by its Founder and Presiding Bishop, Right Reverend Nii Nabi Nii Apiakai Tackie-Yarboi, under whose leadership VBCI has grown into a vibrant faith-based community known for its commitment to both spiritual development and social impact.

Currently, VBCI operates more than 175 branches within Ghana, managed by an administrative team of over 50 permanent staff and supported by hundreds of non-permanent workers. Globally, the ministry is structured into 39 provinces led by 30 consecrated bishops.

At the official launch of the 40th-anniversary celebrations in January 2025, held at the church’s headquarters, Dominion Sanctuary in Accra, Bishop Tackie-Yarboi unveiled the anniversary logo and highlighted the key pillars that have sustained the ministry over the decades.

“One of the things we do not play with is the organizational dimension,” he told journalists. “If you see churches struggling, they have underrated the organizational dimension, which deals with putting the soul and body together. If you teach people how to go to heaven and not how to survive here on earth, it will be tough for them.”

He stressed that the church is not only a spiritual organism but also a functioning organization that actively addresses the holistic needs of its members, from faith to health, family, and socio-economic well-being.

The anniversary celebrations will span several months and feature a diverse range of activities, including international conferences, gospel musical concerts, community outreach programs, and charity initiatives. Notably, VBCI plans to embark on commemorative development projects such as constructing classroom blocks, drilling boreholes, and renovating clinics in selected communities with VBCI branches.

Youth-focused events will also play a central role, providing platforms for mentoring, leadership training, and personal development. The celebrations will be climaxed with a week-long international “Wonderful Jesus Conference” scheduled for October 2025.

VBCI’s mission extends beyond preaching to include community transformation, as the church seeks to raise generations of Christians who live out their faith in practical, impactful ways. The overarching goal remains to empower believers to become devoted disciples of Jesus Christ and to serve their communities with integrity, wisdom, and compassion.

Through four decades of ministry, VBCI has remained anchored in its vision of a transformed Ghana and world, shaped by strong, faith-driven families and communities rooted in God’s Word.

As the church celebrates this milestone, it reaffirms its dedication to building a legacy that will continue to shape lives and nations for generations to come.
