Vandals donate to the vulnerable in Sakoti

The Upper East Regional Vandals Association has donated clothing worth about 7,000 Ghana cedis to vulnerable groups in 10 communities in the Sakoti Traditional Area.

The items included clothing and shoes.

Presenting the items to the Paramount Chief of the area, Naba Segri Bewong, the Regional President of the Association, Dr Francis Asaana, said the vulnerable were dear to the heart of the Association.

Receiving the items, the Paramount Chief said the items would help alleviate the plight of the beneficiaries since most of them were widows and found it difficult to cater for their children.

Alhaji Razak Abudul-Rahaman, the Spiritual Leader of the Regional Vandal Association, said past and present governments had neglected the needy in the community.

He appealed to the government to pay special attention to the vulnerable by empowering them with irrigation facilities including small scale dams and dugouts to enable them to undertake dry season farming.

Alhaji Abudul-Rahaman said in the past years the Association had empowered women groups to form a cooperative society which had empowered a lot of them to gain access to credit facilities from banks to undertake economic ventures.

He appealed to the youth not to rely solely on jobs provided by government but to look for innovative ways of establishing their businesses.
