Oyibi March 7, GNA – Some 961 students were on Sunday admitted into the folds of Valley View University, (VVU) at Oyibi, to pursue various Degree Programmes.
The students who are from eleven African countries would undertake courses in twelve programmes, including Theological Studies, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Human Resource Management and Marketing. Addressing the students, Dr. Seth Laryea, President of VVU, said the current student enrolment had shot up the entire student population to 3,289 who are from 21 countries.
He appealed to students to consciously pursue lifestyles and attitudes that would add value to their lives so as to gain the full benefit of their studies at VVU.
He urged the students to be committed to the tenets of the university, which include Self Discipline, Commitment to Excellence, Integrity and Service.
Dr. Laryea appealed to the faculty members to work together by providing quality education for the students and the entire university. Reverend professor Emmanuel Obeng, a former Vice Chancellor of University of Cape Coast, praised VVU for being one of the best private universities in the country and for its contribution towards the provision of quality education.
He advised the matriculates to foster closer relationship with their lecturers for a better academic work, manage their time properly, and also be very careful in their choice of friends. “As you are here, I will also urge you to cultivate good study habits and also conform to the tenets of this university, which include descent dressing,” he added. Professor Obeng appealed to universities in the country to often update their websites in order to better educate the outside world on their activities and to sell themselves. “A number of universities in the country have poor and boring websites with outdated information, making it difficult for the academic world to appreciate the quality work that they do,” he said.
