Valentine’s Day not for immorality – Nana Imbeah

Axim (W/R), Feb.13, GNA – Nana Kofi Imbeah, Nzema-East Municipal Director of Education, has condemned sexual promiscuity by the youth, presently being associated with the celebration of Valentine’s Day. He advised the youth to avoid pre-marital sex and concentrate on their education, reminding them that sex could best be practiced in marriage.

Nana Imbeah expressed the worry at a day’s seminar for 111 youth from various Churches at Axim, as part of Valentine’s Day celebration. The seminar, organised by Christian Care Consult, an association within the Catholic Church, under the theme, “Experience True Love”, sought to explain the objective of Valentine’s Day, which falls on Saturday, February 14.

Nana Imbeah stressed that immorality was against God’s will and advised the youth to remain chaste until they got married. The Reverend Father Paul Awuah, Parish Priest of the St. Anthony Catholic Church at Axim, said that Valentine’s Day had been set aside for the exchange of gifts to loved ones, friends and relatives and not for immoral acts.

He cautioned the youth that early sex could affect their development and urged them to lead acceptable lifestyles to enable them receive God’s blessings.

Rev. Father Awuah charged Christians to explain the significance of the celebration so that the event would not be used to promote sexual promiscuity.
