Wa, July 25, GNA – Mrs Alice Teni Boon, MP for Lambussie, on Saturday inaugurated a 13-member Upper West Regional Executive of the Women’s Wing of the Sankofa Club of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). She urged the Executives to strive to mobilise more female votes for the NDC in Election 2004 by attracting more members into the Club by forming branches in all the districts and constituencies.
Mrs Boon asked them to explore all available means to assist women in the Region to improve upon their standard of living.
She appealed to male supporters of the NDC to lend every possible moral and material support to the Club to enable it to achieve its objectives. Madam Mary Gia, Sissala District Organiser of the 31st December Women’s Movement, who chaired the function called on women in the Region to come out in their numbers to vote for the NDC in the elections.
The Executive is presided over by Hajia Meri Adama, a Wa based Businesswoman with Madam Alimata Nurieteen and Madam Ayishetu Seidu as Organiser and Secretary, respectively.
Present at the function was Mr Malik Isshaku, Regional Chairman of the NDC.
