UW Chiefs Deny Rejecting Dery

The Upper West Regional House of Chiefs has denied challenging the nomination of Mr. Ambrose Dery, acting Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General for appointment as the Regional Minister, as reported by an Accra private newspaper.

Mr. Jude Goo, registrar of the House told the paper that the publication under the heading ?Chiefs Challenge Minister?s Appointment? is not only in bad taste but misleading, mischievous, false and calculated to bring the good name of the House into disrepute.

According to Mr. Goo, a meeting of the House convened by nine paramount chiefs all expressed their joy and happiness and agreed in principle that a formal commendation letter be sent to the President for the offer and also to congratulate Mr. Dery and wish him well in his new position.
