UTAG to receive salary arrears by close of week – MoE

The Ministry of Education has assured all university teachers they will receive their salary arrears by close of this week.

The assurance follows the release of GHS25m by the Controller and Accountant General to the ministry for the payment of market premium arrears on the single spine salary structure.

The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) had threatened to strike tomorrow over the nonpayment of their salaries.

However, UTAG said it will be meeting later Wednesday afternoon to decide on whether to continue with the intended action.

But ahead of that meeting, Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa tells Joy News, the concerns of the teachers are being urgently addressed.
