Most graduates churned out by some universities in Ghana are not equipped for work in the corporate world, founder of UT Holdings Kofi Amoabeng has said.
This, he said, had prompted his institution to train job applicants for another two years even after hiring them.
He lamented the breakdown of the training system in Ghana which has made it difficult to even trust the authenticity of the First Class honours of beautiful ladies who come out of the universities.
“You cannot even trust the people that have come out. I used to tell people that if you are a lady and come to apply for a job with a First Class and you are very beautiful, I suspect the [authenticity] of the First Class. So, we have to find a way to test whether it is genuine or not,” he told DJ Premier on Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5FM on Saturday August 27.
He pointed out that the establishment of the UT Academy was to retrain job applicants for the work at UT, and successful applicants who complete the programme are those recruited for long-term appointments.
In his words: “We have not done well for the educational sector…; either the job market is choked or there are no jobs, and those being produced are not good enough.”
