Use salaries of minister to pay for burnt excavators – Abronye DC

The salaries of the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu and Professor Frimpong Boateng, Minister of Environment Science and Technology must be used to defray for the cost of burnt excavators, a party stalwart has suggested.

Controversial Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Orgainser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe popularly called Abronye DC says government if sued should not use the consolidated fund to pay for the destroyed mining equipment.

“They were those who sent the members of the operation vanguard out there. If they did not tell them to go burning mining equipment and they are doing so they should be held responsible”, he said on Accra-based Okay FM.

According to him, if same persons criticized the previous government for burning down the mining equipment of Chairman Wontumi and then a repetition must also be condemned.

“We rose up against the burning down of Wontumi’s mining equipment and we must not also allow this to fester on. We need to wholly criticize it because it is not right. I am told some of the equipment were parked but they stormed the town and set fire on them. I think the salaries and, John Peter Amewu and Professor Frimpong Boateng must be used to pay for it”, he emphasized.

According to him, what is fundamentally wrong is wrong and no one should attempt to justify the conduct of the armed security personnel because it smacks of lawlessness.
