Use influence with the people to keep nation calm

The church has been asked to use its tremendous influence with the people to encourage responsible conduct by everybody as the nation edges towards general election.

Baffour-Appiah-Agyei, the Chief of Tanoso, Kumasi, said it was important to help all to be tolerant and to respect views, different from what they held to protect the peace and harmony of the society.

He was speaking at a ceremony to dedicate a GH¢340,000.00 bus bought by the Gethsemane Methodist Church at Tanoso.

The 35-seater Toyota bus is to aid evangelism and social programmes of the church.

Baffour Appiah-Agyei said Ghana was making strong progress with its multi-party democracy and that everything must be done to sustain the achievements made.

All must pull together to make this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections a huge success, he added.

The Right Reverend Joseph Bondzie Impraim, Superintendent Minister of Asuoyeboa Circuit of the Church, spoke of the need for forgiveness and said that was vital for the unity and cohesion of the society.

“Sin has repercussions and that people must learn to forgive others of their wrongs to bring about brotherliness and peaceful co-existence.”

The Rt. Rev Impraim said the church would continue with its social responsibility programmes to the poor and the needy to make things better for them.

He praised the Tanoso Gethsemane congregation for bringing both physical development to the community and the gospel to the people.

The Rev Samuel Kwasi Ofori Andam, Minister in-charge of Gethsemane Church, spoke of plans to construct a modern school complex at Tanoso.

A multi-purpose conference hall would also be built in the community, he added.
