Use Games to solve problems in the North- Ambrose Dery

Wa, May 3, GNA – Mr. Ambrose Dery, Upper West Regional Minister has advised citizens of the three Northern Regions to organize periodic games that would create a platform to solve the numerous problems facing the area.

He said the people can use such forums to educate their people against land and chieftaincy disputes and withdrawal of children from school among other issues.

Mr. Dery gave the advice when he opened a three-day tripartite Tennis Competition at Wa, the regional capital.

The Regional Minister said such games would also help them to share ideas on how to fight poverty, illiteracy and disease in the three regions.

The competition, which was organized by the Wa Tennis Club, attracted their counterparts from Tamale in the Northern Region and Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital.

The tournament is not only aimed at exposing the prowess of the players in Tennis as a game, but would also create a fertile ground for the participants to socialize and share developmental issues. Mr. Dery said the government has plans to make the country a just and humane society and that this cannot be achieved if people in the country were not healthy and conscious of their human rights and responsibilities in society.

Mr. Mathew Sungabu, Chairman of the Wa Tennis Club promised to continuously organize such programmes to foster unity among the people of the three regions.
