Use dynamism of culture to promote dev’t-Kufuor

Accra, Sept. 11, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor at the weekend urged chiefs to use the dynamism of culture and make it all embracing to promote national development.

He commended the chiefs and people of the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) for being accommodating and embracing to all ethnic groups within the city.

Speaking as Guest of the Honour at the maiden Presidential Luncheon, as part of this year’s annual Homowo festival of the chiefs and people of Accra, organised by the GTC and held at the Ga Mantse Palace, President Kufuor said the city of Accra, as the national capital had been accommodating and all embracing.

He commended the Council for the luncheon that was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps, Members of the Council of State, and Ministers of State and politicians.

“This shows the dynamism of culture,” he added. Nii Adote Obuor II, Sempe Mantse and Acting President of the Council appealed to other ethnic groups resident in Accra to respect and honour the traditions and culture of the Gas for a peaceful co-existence.

President Kufuor later signed a visitors’ book at the Palace. A minute silence was observed in memory of the victims of the September 11, 2001 disaster in the USA.
