USAID offer support to check malnutrition

Berekum (B/A) July 1, GNA – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is offering financial assistance to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, to increase food production in the Nkoranza District, to prevent malnutrition especially among school children.

Miss Margaret Mary Awuah, Brong Ahafo Regional Nutrition Officer, told the Ghana News Agency at Berekum that 88 farmers and seven basic schools at Bonsu; Busunya; Akropong; Asuano; Kranka, Nkoranza-Sessiman and Dromankese have been selected for the support programme known as the “Nutrition Advantage Project”.

The beneficiary farmers would be provided with free agricultural inputs and technical advice.

Miss Awuah expressed gratitude to USAID for helping to promote the health of nursing mothers and their babies to reduce the incidence of maternal and infant mortality rate in Ghana. She said eating of balance diet was the means to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
