USAID assists three towns to build school blocks

Nkoranza, Dec 15, GNA – The Community Schools Alliance (CMA) of Quality Improvement in Primary Schools (QUIPS) Project, a United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-sponsored programme, has organized an education forum at Nkoranza for stakeholders of three primary schools in the Nkoranza District.
Participants discussed the successes chalked by the three schools within the past two years that CSA/QUIPS adopted as partners in development.
The schools are Pinihe Roman Catholic Primary, Bonsu Methodist Primary and Nkoranza Methodist Primary.
Mr. Jarvis R. Agyeman-Badu, District Director of Education, said despite numerous education forums on indiscipline among school children, parents still allow their children to idle about after school hours. ”School children are still found at video centres, concerts and dance halls, funeral wake-keeping ceremonies and at the lorry parks in the night,” he said.
Mr Agyeman-Badu said unless parents played their roles effectively as stakeholders and ensured that their children were disciplined both at home and in school, their investments in the children’s education would go to waste.
He expressed regret that some parents did not even know where their children spend the night.
Mr. Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, District Chief Executive (DCE) commended the USAID for assisting the government to offer quality education for the youth of the country.
USAID has assisted the Nkoranza District Assembly and the people of Bonsu, Pinihe and Nkoranza to construct a block of six classrooms each for the three schools.
Mr. Ampofo-Twumasi commended the people for their support and asked the people to guard against partisan politics and forge ahead in unity to accelerate development of the communities.
