US, Ghana churches clash over Fmr. moderator’s resignation

The Presbyterian church USA is accusing its Ghana counterpart of attempting to ruin the reputation of a former moderator of the church in Ghana Very Rev. Frimpong Manso.

Rev. Frimpong Manso has resigned from the Presbyterian Church Ghana. Earlier this year, it was reported that the reason for the resignation was because the Ghana church had severed the relationship with its American counterpart for accepting same-sex marriages.

The Church in Ghana further stated that Rev Frimpong Manso declined an exit interview after presenting his resignation letter. But the American Presbytery says the facts as presented by the Ghana church are misleading.

In a statement, the US church noted that the points of disagreement between the Ghanaian church and them goes beyond the issue involving the resigned former moderator.
