US Embassy present books to Kumasi Polytechnic

Kumasi, May 31, GNA – The United States Embassy in Ghana on Monday donated a number of books to Kumasi Polytechnic.

The books cover academic disciplines such as Economics, Accounting, Electronics, Management, Information Systems, Mathematics, Corporate Finances, Engineering and Computer Science.

Ms Mary Carlin Yates, the Ambassador, said the US recognises the unique role of polytechnics in manpower development, hence the donation. She noted that, with little push, these institutions could bring technological development to the country.

The Ambassador, who did not put a cost on the books, expressed the hope that the donation would be of immense benefit to both students and lecturers. Mr Banafo Codjoe, the Vice Principal, who received the books, said the Polytechnic was mandated to train middle-level manpower for industry and therefore expressed appreciated for the donation, which he observed would boost teaching and learning.

He called for the strengthening of the cultural and educational ties between the school and the US.

Mr Daniel Owiredu, Chairman of the Polytechnic Council, asked the students to take good care of the books to promote their lifespan and also make optimal use of them to improve on their academic performance.
