Accra, May 31, GNA – The United States of America Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of the Department of Homeland Security has commended Government for the measures adopted to tighten security at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra in reaction to TSA concerns. This was contained in a statement issued in Accra on Monday and signed by Mr James Agyenim-Boateng, Deputy Minister of Information.
It said “TSA’s Director of Europe and Africa, Aaron Batt, on behalf of the TSA, conveyed their appreciation to Government through the Ghana Embassy in Washington DC for “being receptive to TSA’s concerns and taking steps to enhance security at KIA”.
Mr Batt noted that TSA considered the positive actions of Ghanaian authorities as a step in the right direction and promised further collaborative efforts to ensure safer air transportation between Ghana and the USA.
He noted that in the light of the current security situation at KIA, TSA had put on hold plans to dispatch a team of USA Security Personnel to Accra to assist in reviewing security at the airport. “Government has meanwhile indicated that it would continue to review regularly the security situation at the airport to sustain its credibility internationally,” the statement added.
