The Second phase of the Urban five project at Asamankese which involves the rehabilitation of roads in the town’s central business district is about to take-off.
The road component of the project will cover about 1.2 kilometres at the cost of over 3.4 billion cedis which would include the construction of drains and the tarring of the streets which are presently in very deplorable conditions.
This was announced by the West Akyem District Chief Executive, Mr Umar Amoah when he addressed a forum at Asamankese during which he touched on some development projects in the district.
He appealed to those who have kiosks and other unauthorised structures to remove them without delay in order not to delay the project, which should be completed within nine months.
He said as part of the Village Infrastructure Project (VIP), Oworam, Betoom Kwametia-Brekumanso, Kwakusae feeder roads have been awarded on contract at the cost of 668.2 million cedis.
He said from the Ghana Education Trust Fund, construction would soon start on six-unit classrooms and water closet toilets for schools at Pabi, Dwafoakwa, Asuotwene and Atimatim.
From the one billion cedis allocated to the district from the HIPC fund, three-unit classroom blocks are to be constructed at Kuntu, Adu Kofi, Osenase with a Heath Post going to Brekumanso and a 16-seater Agua privy for Adeiso.
He said a three-unit classroom block had been constructed at Betoom at the cost of 103.9 million cedis under the European Union sponsored programme.
Other projects being undertaken by the assembly include a library at Asamankese, at the cost of 384.4 million cedis, a 424.1` million cedi ward for the Asamankese Government Hospital and a six-unit classroom block at Adeiso at the cost of 447 million cedis.
