Upper Manya Rural Bank official arrested for stealing

Koforidua, Sept 10, GNA – The Police has arrested Nicholas Opoku, 35, head of Micro-Finance Section of the Upper Manya Rural Bank, for allegedly stealing GH¢ 49,241 belonging to the financial institution.

Chief Inspector Nketsiah-Yeboah of the Eastern Regional Police Command told GNA that the manager of the bank reported Opoku to the police after the auditing of the bank’s financial operations.

Chief Insp Nketsiah-Yeboah said the auditing revealed that from September 2010 to April 2011, Opoku tempered with the accounts of the Section.

This made it possible for him to steal the amount being part of monies received from “susu” customers of the bank
