Upper East Regional Minister advocates Regional Council of Elders

Bolgatanga, July 2, GNA – Mr Mahami Salifu, Upper East Regional Minister, on Thursday suggested the formation of Regional Council of Elders that would advise the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) on measures to promote good governance and the development agenda.

Mr Salifu made the suggestion in Bolgatanga, during a reception organised by the RCC, for Senior Citizens in the Region, to commemorate Ghana’s 44th Republic Day.

He expressed the need for the RCC, to tap the immense experience of the Senior Citizens to ensure rapid development. Mr Salifu called for a national programme that would cater for the aged and eradicate the drudgery they go through after retiring from public life.

He appealed to the Senior Citizens to use the occasion to reflect on how best they could still be of use to the national development process.
