Upper East Region receives more Kits for registration exercise

The Upper East Regional Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday received 20 back up biometric kits in Bolgatanga.

Mr Bruce Ayisi, Regional Director of the Commission said the kits would support the ongoing registration exercise and also strengthen the capacity of the region in containing related problems.

He made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Monday in Bolgatanga.

Mr Ayisi said, out of a total number of 506,201 voters in the region, only 168,613 were registered during the phase one of the biometric registration exercise.

Asked how the exercise would fare with the onset of the rains the Director said efforts were being made to procure some canopies to support the process.

He expressed appreciation for cooperation from the political parties in the exercise and called on persons who have attained the voting age to endeavour to patronise the process.**
