Upper East Region in shock over President Mills’ death

People in the Upper East Region have expressed shock about the death of President John Evans Atta Mills and said the nation had incurred a big loss.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, the Municipal Chief Executive of Bolgatanga, Mr. Edward Ayagle, expressed optimism that with the swearing in of Mr. John Dramani Mahama, former Vice President as the President, the good programs and policies of Professor Mills would continue.

He called for unity and tolerance among all people in the country so that peace would be maintained now and during the elections.

The Chief of Yorogo, Naba Johnson Awuni, on his part, described the late President as a very humble person and a peacemaker and asked all in politics to bury their differences so as to move the nation forward.

Naba Awuni noted that the Vice President had the ability to confront the challenges of his predecessor and appealed to Ghanaians to give him the maximum support.

Mr. Bismark Ayorogo, President of the Northern Patriots in Research and Advocacy (NORPRA.), said President Mills would ever be remembered for his good pro-poor policies for the people in the three regions of the North.

Mr. Joseph Dassah, Upper East Regional Manager of the National Lotteries Authority, called on Ghanaians and all politicians to come together and support the newly sworn-in President, Mr. John Mahama to enable him to carry on with the development agenda of the country.**
