Upper East RCC takes delivery of street lamps

The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has taken delivery of four hundred pieces of street lamps from the Ministry of Power.

The street lamps were distributed to the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, the Bongo District and the Talensi and Nabdam Districts, to help maintain security.

Presenting the items to the beneficiary Districts, Mr Albert Abongo, the Regional Minister, said security was one of the major concerns of government and tasked the District Chief Executives who are the Chairmen of their respective District Security Committees (DISEC) to put in place pragmatic measures to deal with issues concerning security.

Whilst expressing his gratitude to the Ministry of Power for the package, the Regional Minister urged the DCEs to ensure that the street lamps are installed as soon as possible.

Mrs Vivian Anafo, the DCE for Nabdam, thanked the RCC on behalf of her colleagues, saying the lamps would help the security agencies in foiling criminal activities such as motor bike snatching and mugging, which usually occurs at night.

The Bolgatanga Municipal took 200 lamps, the Bongo District- 100, the Nabdam- 50 and Talensi- 50 lamps.
