Upper East RCC lauds NGO for supporting decentralization Process

Kumbosigo (U/E), March 8, GNA – The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has commended Foundation for Grass Roots Africa, a non-governmental organization working in the area for its complementing role in the implementation of the decentralization process. The Chief Director of the RCC, Mr. Samuel N’lary, made the commendation at a stakeholders’ meeting with Coordinating Directors, District Planners, Assembly members and local civic coalition groups at Kumbosigo, near Bolgatanga Municipality.

Mr. N’lary pointed out that the organisation has progressively empowered local civic organisations to demand accountability from office holders and also sensitise the people to honour their tax obligations. The Project Manager of Grass Roots Africa, Ms Hawa Nibi, said the organisation would continue to collaborate with the assemblies and asked them to continue to give them the necessary support. She explained that the overall objective of the project was to contribute to poverty reduction under the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy and the Millennium Development Goals.
