Bolgatanga, Aug 16, GNA – Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Friday congratulated Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for emerging as the flag bearer of the party.
The members commended the other contestants in a statement for their show of maturity by accepting defeat and pledging to rally behind the winner to ensure that the party re-captured power in 2012.
The members appealed to interest groups in the party who supported aspirants who lost to patch up their differences and work in the interest of the party.
“We therefore urge all and sundry to bury all forms of differences and put all hands on deck to prosecute a successful campaign for the party’s victory”, the statement said.
The statement paid tribute to the National Executive Committee of the party, Electoral Commission, security agencies and other stakeholders for ensuring that the election was conducted in a fair manner.
The members said they were resolved to work with the presidential candidate to defeat the National Democratic Congress in the 2012 election.
