Bolgatanga, Feb. 24, GNA- The Upper East Region branch of the Judicial Service Association of Ghana (JUSAG) at the weekend elected a new Executive to manage its affairs for the next three years.
Mr. Anabio Deen was elected Regional Chairman, with Mr. David Baba as Vice Chairman. The position of Secretary went to Mr. Joseph Akula while Miss Rose Atiah was elected treasurer.
The General Secretary of the Association, Mr. Kumi Daud Idris, called on members of the Association to be disciplined in the execution of their work.
He added that the Chief Justice has warned that he would not hesitate to dismiss any staff of the judiciary who engaged in such acts. He said the Labour Union is negotiating with government on the daily minimum wage and added that efforts are being made to get government to restore the CAP 30 to workers.
On the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) the Secretary said JUSAG supports it but the Association rejects government’s decision to use the two and a half per cent of workers social security contribution to run the scheme.
The National Women Organiser, Madam Patience Klu, also called for discipline among lady-staff of the judiciary and urged them to aspire for more academic laurels while on the job.
