Update: Omari Wadie to spend the night in BNI custody

XYZ News has learnt that Mr. Michael Omari Wadie, the detained former Chairman Aspirant of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, is to spend the night in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations in Accra.

The former NPP Parliamentary Aspirant was picked up early Monday morning upon arrival from the UK in connection with investigations into the publication of a doctored sleazy photo of a man caught having sex with a woman in an office.

The face of President John Mahama has been transposed on the original photo, to portray him as the one caught in the sex act.

Mr. Omari Wadie was allegedly the first to publish the doctored picture on his Facebook wall before it got viral.

A group of Mr. Wadie’s Party members and supporters who went to inquire of his whereabouts from the BNI’s head office and to demand his release on Monday were seen filing out of the office around 5pm.

XYZ News gathered from the group that the BNI had asked them to return the following day, Tuesday for any deliberations over Mr. Wadie’s detention.

XYZ News also picked up information which suggested that some lawyers within the NPP intend to drag the BNI to court to compel the outfit to produce Mr. Wadie.
