UPDATE: GNFS RESPONDS TO FATAL ACCIDENT AT WAKROM JUNCTION

At about 2:45 p.m. today, Monday, September 15, 2025, the Rescue Team from the Central Regional Headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) was dispatched to a distress accident call at Wakrom Junction near Yamoransa on the Cape Coast–Accra Highway.

The team arrived at 2:59 p.m. to find a collision between a DAF Truck (AW 9548-13), loaded with 700 bags of rice, and a Toyota Hiace passenger vehicle (GC 9728-21).

Upon arrival, GNFS rescuers swiftly commenced operations, extricating five (5) victims from the wreckage. Sadly, four (4) were pronounced dead at the hospital, while one (1) critically injured victim is receiving treatment.

12 passengers were rescued and rushed to the hospital before the GNFS Rescue Team arrived at the scene and one later confirmed dead. The driver and mate of the DAF Truck escaped unhurt.

In all, the crash has resulted in 17 casualties: 5 confirmed dead and 12 injured but receiving treatment at the hospital.

The incident caused heavy traffic on the busy highway as emergency services worked tirelessly to save lives and clear the scene. Motorists plying that stretch are advised to be extra cautious.
