(Update) Adenta residents run for cover as aircraft tank drops

Information reaching RadioXYZonline.com indicates that an aircraft fuel tank fell at Adenta, a suburb of Accra, during a routine training regiment Tuesday morning.

It is not clear what might have caused the tank to fall but the head of Public Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces, Col. Atintande told XYZ News no casualties have been recorded in the incident.

“This morning, one of the trainer aircrafts, the K8 trainer Aircraft that we have was on a training mission and then one of the fuel tanks fell off around Adenta” he narrated.

Col. Atintande said some Airforce personnel have been deployed to recover the tank that fell, stressing that “no plane has crashed.”

About a week ago, a helicopter made an emergency landing at the St Michael’s International School at Menan in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region.

Again, in the latter part of June, a helicopter belonging to Newmont Ghana made an emergency landing at Beposo in the Ashanti region due to poor visibility.

Head of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Air Commodore Victor Mumphcy in an interview with XYZ News also corroborated Col. Atintande’s information.

He said the craft is a six wing aircraft which was undertaking its normal training routine but has since flown back to its base as the Airforce identifies the fallen tank.

Air Commodore Mumphcy said there is no cause for alarm as the tank fell on no properties in the Area.**
