Unlicensed driver crashes into church building

Mr Charles Owusu, a 34-year-old an unlicensed driver has been arrested for allegedly driving a truck into the premises of the Apostolic Church of Ghana at Madina, in the Greater Accra Region.

The driver of the vehicle with registration number GS 6762-13, however, escaped arrest.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Charles Ahiamale of the Madina Divisional Police Motor, Traffic and Transport Unit of Ghana Police Service said when Owusu got to the location of the church, he negotiated a curve to descend a slope, but lost control of the steering wheel, causing the accident which destroyed the entrance of the church as well as a number of plastic chairs, a glass lectern, sound system and the altar.

The police had since managed to remove the vehicle, which had its windscreen broken while the left door was mangled.

DSP Ahiamale said Owusu sustained bruises on the right arm and the right leg while the third person in the vehicle also sustained bruises on both arms.

The Madina Police Command is investigating the cause of the accident
