Unlicensed driver arrested

The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested a 37-year- old unlicensed driver, Albert Oduro, for committing multiple traffic offences with his truck in Koforidua.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, and Corporal Wisdom Lumor, both of Police Operations in the Eastern Region, said they spotted the truck on Monday evening at the central part of Koforidua without any lights on.

They signaled Oduro to stop which he initially refused but was forced to comply and his offence of driving without lights and failing to obey the orders of a police officer was pointed to him and then sent to the police headquarters.

At the headquarters, inspection was conducted on the vehicle and seven other offences were pointed out to him and these were driving without license, expired insurance, driving without tail lights, use of expired road worthiness certificate and worn out tires.

The vehicle has been impounded whiles investigations continue to process the suspect for court. ASP Nketia-Yeboah told the GNA that he had received many pleas from influential persons in Koforidua to release Oduro but he insisted that such an offence was a threat to road users and the suspect should be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent.
