University of Cape Coast honours 73 retirees

Seventy-three (73) retired workers of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have been honoured at a send-off and long service awards ceremony for their meritorious service to the University.

The retirees include; 15 senior members, 31 senior staff and 27 junior members who served the University for periods ranging from 16 to 41 years in various capacities.

The retirees’ staff of the institution received washing machines, refrigerators, living room furniture, cash and citation plaques.

The University also awarded 12 staff in recognition of their active service from the various staff categories given cash prize of GH¢3,000 and plaques for their performance in the past year at the ceremony.

The immediate past Vice Chancellor of UCC, Prof D.D Kuupole who served the University for 32 years was also honoured.

The Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof Joseph Ghartey Ampiah expressed profound gratitude to the retirees and the other staff for their years of service and efforts to help make the UCC happier.

He appealed to the retirees to use their working experience to contribute to the University and mother Ghana.

Prof Ghartey Ampiah advised all the retirees to be health conscious at this period of their lives and to spend quality time with their families.
