Accra, July 29, GNA – The Houdegbe North American University in Benin has conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) Degree in Public Administration on Ms Samia Yaba Nkrumah, Member of Parliament for Jomoro.
It was conferred on her at a ceremony in Cotonou, Benin national capital on July 25.
A statement to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday signed by Professor O. C Houdegbe, President of the University said the conferment which was by a unanimous vote from the Council of the academic facility was in recognition of Ms Nkrumah’s excellent service to humanity.
The statement said the University, which was the first private University in the Benin Republic and the first fully bilingual experiment in West Africa was not only committed to recognizing and honouring individuals who strive to imprint their footprints on sands of history to make the world a better place but also engaged in forging inter-territorial identity bonds among the peoples of West Africa to ensure regional co-operation and integration. 29 July 09
