New Longoro (B/A), Aug 07, GNA – The youth of New Longoro in the Kintampo District have said they would not participate in communal labour until a case of theft against Matthew Ayimadu, Chairman of the Area Council, has been dealt with.
The youth, in a letter to the Divisional Crime Officer in the district signed by Mr Anane Fordjour, adviser, appealed to the police to resolve the case speedily.
They alleged that, Ayimadu, who is also the head teacher of New Longoro Methodist Primary School, stole three high-tension poles costing 1.5 million cedis and sold them to one Atta Kwaku.
The youth said Ayimadu was arrested by the police and was granted bail “but up till now, we have heard nothing about the case”. “Before this incident, we lost four poles in 1998. We did not know the one who took them but they were packed in front of his house so we suspect he knows something about that”, they added.
When the Ghana News Agency contacted the police at New Longoro, Inspector John Badu, station officer was said to have travelled out of town.
