Union to organise debate for Parliamentary Candidates

Mamponteng (Ash), Nov. 20, GNA – The Kwabre Civic Union (KCU), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), is to organise two separate public debates for candidates vying for parliamentary seats in the Kwabre East and Kwabre West Constituencies in Election 2004.

The debates would be held at Mamponteng, the District Capital of Kwabre East on Tuesday, November 23 and at Kodie on Thursday, November 25.

Mr Isaac Osei-Agyeman, Secretary of the union, told newsmen at Mamponteng on Friday that the aim of the debate was to offer the candidates the opportunity to present their respective manifestos to the electorate.

It would also give voters the chance to learn the position of the candidates so that they could make informed choices when casting their ballots on Election Day, he said.

He said all the parliamentary candidates had pledged their fullest commitment to the programme and had gone further to confirm their participation.

Mr Osei-Agyeman urged registered voters in the two constituencies to participate actively in the programme to make it a success.
