Union donates to Children’s Home

Kumasi, Dec 27, GNA – The Kumasi-Takoradi-Ellubo branch of the Ghana Private road Transport Union (GPRTU) on Sunday presented food items worth one million cedis and 200,000 cedis cash to the inmates of the Kumasi Children’s Home.

They included two bags of rice, quantity of yams and cooking oil.

Mr John Boateng, a member of the union, presented a personal donation of 500,000 cedis cash to the Home.

Making the presentation, Mr Sumaila Boachie, branch chairman of the union said the donation formed part of their yearly social responsibility for the upkeep of the inmates.

He said the union was prepared to release vehicles to the Home to transport the inmates during excursions.

In another development, the Grace of God Church at Abrepo in Kumasi also donated food items valued at 1.4 million cedis and a cash of one million cedis to the Home.

Elder Samuel Appiagyei who presented the items said the donation was part of the Church’s 10th anniversary celebrations. Madam Victoria Asugnya, Supervisor of the Home, thanked the two organisations for remembering the inmates during the Christmas festivities.

She appealed to individuals and societies to donate in cash or kind towards the early completion of a school block for the Home.
