Unilever Tema warehouse in flames

One of the warehouses of Unilever Ghana in Tema is in flames and fire fighters are at the scene to bring the inferno under control.

Eyewitnesses said a lot of police men have been deployed to the factory and its precinct to prevent thieves from looting.

The fire started at about 3.45 pm on Saturday, but the cause is immediately unknown.

Eyewitnesses said they heard a huge explosion at the warehouse, which was followed by thick smoke.

However, the head of corporate affairs of Unilever, Gabriel Opoku Asare told Starrfmonline.com the situation has been brought under control.

He allayed fears that the fire will affect their business since it only affected one of their warehouses.

“It was not the full warehouse. Thankfully, no one got injured. It did not affect our production line and would not affect our service. Our safety team is also on site and everything is under control,” Asare told starrfmonline.com.
