Kumasi, Jan. 8, GNA – Mr Abdul Nasir Deen of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) at Offinso North, has called for a unification of all Nkrumaist parties for future elections. He explained that divisions among the Nkrumaist family had cost them in past elections because efforts made in the past to reunite the family proved futile.
Speaking with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Thursday, Mr Deen therefore, called on the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), the PNC, the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) and the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) to work hard to overcome their differences and be united to make a meaningful impact on Ghana’s political landscape. He praised Ghanaians for the maturity exhibited in the general elections and urged them to support the new government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the overall benefit of the nation. Mr Deen, who lost the 2008 parliamentary election on the ticket of the PNC, said it behoved on Ghanaians not to hesitate to bring suggestions for consideration by the new government towards accelerating the socio-economic development of the country.
He said with the choice of Professor John Evans Atta Mills as President, the onus now lay on religious, traditional and opinion leaders to promote social cohesion by preaching against tribalism, ethnicity, vindictiveness, harassment and practices that could throw the country into turmoil.
