Unemployed remanded for defiling 6 year-old girl

Juaso (Ash), May 10, GNA – The Juaso Circuit Court has remanded a 25-year-old unemployed for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl at Peminase in the Bosomtwi-Atwima- Kwanwoma District.

Kwabena Owusu pleaded not guilty to the charge and would re-appear on May 16.

Police Chief Inspector Mathias Komla Ahiabor told the court that on May 12, 2005 the accused sent the victim to buy him chewing gum and when she returned he lured her to the SDA church building and defiled her. The cries of the victim attracted a passer-by but Owusu ran away. He said the witness took the victim to her parents who reported the case to the Peminase Police.

The police mounted search for the accused but could not find him until April 25, 2007 when he accused was spotted at Peminase and arrested him.
