A circuit court in Akim Swedru on Tuesday sentence Prosper Gblenyo, to six years imprisonment, for stealing household items and property of Mrs. Elizabeth Bempomah Ntiamoah.
Gblenyo, 18-year-old unemployed, pleaded not guilty to four counts of conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, causing damage and stealing.
He was convicted of the offences and remanded in police custody on February 3, to reappear in court on February 14 for sentence.
The court, presided over by Mr. Yaw Atta Sampong has issued the warrant of the arrest two accomplices, who had bolted.
Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah told the court that Mrs. Ntiamoah, the complainant, is a businesswoman based in Botswana, own a house at Akim Oda and the accused live in the same town.
The prosecution said Madam Lydia Agyeiwaa, a care-taker of the house, detected that the complainant’s windows were broken into and the items stolen.
Chief Insp Ahenkorah said Madam Agyeiwaa managed to retrieve some of the items and informed the landlady in Botswana on phone about the development.
The prosecution said when Madam Ntiamoah returned to Ghana, he detected that her personal belongings had been stolen.
Chief Insp. Ahenkorah said investigations led to the arrest of Gblenyo and he mentioned Prince and Kobby as accomplices.
