Unemployed jailed for defilement

Nkawie (Ash), June 10, GNA – A Nkawie circuit court presided over by Mr Justice Noble Nkrumah has sentenced a 25-year-old unemployed to 15 years in jail for defilement.

Isaac Appiah pleaded guilty to defiling a 14-year-old girl. Police Detective Inspector Osei Boadi told the court that both the convict and victim lived at Tanodumase in the Atwima-Mponua District.

On May 17, the girl visited her aunt at a nearby village and while returning Appiah attacked her, dragged her into a nearby bush, pushed her down and defiled her.

The prosecution said the victim’s father chanced upon the incident and rescued her daughter but not without having to receive some punches from the convict.

Appiah fled but was later arrested and handed over to the police by members of the Tanodumase Unit Committee.
